BarberHero Opportunities Terms

Version opportunities-1.3-2026-08-18 — effective 18 August 2026

These terms apply in addition to the Provider Terms whenever a barbershop or hybrid provider posts an Opportunity or a professional views, applies for, discusses, or accepts one.

Important: BarberHero Opportunities is an introduction and workflow service. The posting business and selected professional must agree their own lawful terms for the independent services. Nothing in these terms excludes any duty that applies to BarberHero under employment-agency, employment-business, recruitment, data-protection, equality, or other law.

Self-employed contractor model: Opportunities are offered for independent professional services. The app does not employ either party and does not create an employment contract between the shop and barber or with BarberHero. When a barber accepts paid work, the shop and barber still make a direct agreement for those self-employed services (a contract for services). Calling an arrangement self-employed cannot remove any mandatory right if the way the parties actually work is legally inconsistent with that status.

1. Who can use Opportunities

Only approved barbershops and hybrid providers may post Opportunities. Approved mobile barbers and eligible hybrid professionals may apply.

The person posting for a business confirms they have authority to bind that business. Applicants confirm that their profile, experience, skills, availability, and application information are accurate.

2. No charge to professionals

Professionals apply for free and keep 100% of their agreed earnings. BarberHero does not charge a professional for finding or trying to find work and does not deduct commission from the pay agreed with the hiring business.

Optional services must never be made a condition of receiving work unless the law expressly permits it and the conditions are separately disclosed.

3. Publication price

Before payment, the review screen displays the normal price, any welcome discount or repost credit, VAT treatment where applicable, and the final total.

  • Welcome offer: the first paid publication for each eligible approved barber shop costs £9.99 total.
  • Normal price: later paid publications cost £19.99 total per Opportunity.
  • VAT: the price breakdown states whether VAT is included or not applicable. A VAT amount is shown only where BarberHero is required and entitled to charge it.
  • Payment: Stripe processes the publication charge. Publication normally starts immediately after payment confirmation.

The welcome offer is limited to one eligible first publication per provider business and account. We may withhold or recover a promotion obtained through duplicate, misleading, or abusive accounts.

Except where law requires otherwise or BarberHero fails to publish the paid listing, a publication charge is not refundable once the Opportunity goes live. Closing or filling it early does not create a pro-rata cash refund. If the posting business cancels a paid Opportunity within 24 hours of publication and nobody has applied, BarberHero instead grants one immediate replacement publication credit. The credit has no cash value and cannot be transferred.

4. What one publication includes

A single Opportunity may include up to 7 dates for the same role and agreed conditions. It remains active for up to 30 days, or until it is filled, closed, cancelled, suspended, or reaches its application deadline.

The hiring business chooses the number of applicants it will consider. The default is 10 and the permitted maximum is 30. Once the limit is reached, further applications may be prevented.

Materially different roles, locations, pay arrangements, or conditions require a separate Opportunity. Do not edit a listing in a way that misleads existing applicants.

5. Free repost credit

If an Opportunity receives no suitable application within the first 72 hours after publication, BarberHero grants one free repost credit to the same provider account.

For this feature, an application treated as active or suitable enough to remain pending or progress during the 72-hour window prevents the credit. An application rejected as unsuitable does not. BarberHero may review obvious manipulation or abuse.

A credit:

  • can be used for one later Opportunity publication;
  • has no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred, or withdrawn;
  • applies to the publication fee only; and
  • is used before another paid publication where the platform offers it.

A paid Opportunity also receives one immediate replacement credit if its posting business cancels it within 24 hours of publication before any application is made. A listing paid for with a credit does not generate another immediate early-cancellation credit.

A credit does not guarantee applications or a successful engagement.

6. Clear listing information

The hiring business must provide accurate and non-discriminatory information, including:

  • business identity and work location;
  • role, required skills, experience, and number of professionals needed;
  • each date, start and finish time;
  • break length and whether the break is paid or unpaid;
  • hourly or fixed-day pay, paid hours, total pay, and effective hourly rate;
  • tools, products, dress, conduct, and practical requirements;
  • how and when the professional will be paid directly;
  • application deadline and cancellation conditions; and
  • any legal qualification, authorisation, or genuine occupational requirement.

BarberHero applies a minimum commercial hourly floor to every listing. This protects professionals and does not by itself make BarberHero or the barber shop an employer. Where employment, worker, minimum-wage or holiday-pay law applies because of the real arrangement, the hiring business must also comply with it. A fixed-day amount must not conceal a lower effective hourly amount.

7. Paid and unpaid breaks

A paid break counts within paid time. An unpaid break is deducted from paid time. The review screen calculates paid hours, expected total pay, and the effective hourly rate from the information supplied.

The hiring business remains responsible for checking that actual working time, rest, breaks, and pay comply with law. Platform calculations are estimates based on the listing and do not replace payroll or legal advice.

8. Applications, contact, and selection

Before selecting, the hiring business may review the applicant's BarberHero profile and contact them through the permitted in-app chat or telephone feature to clarify the role. Contact information must be used only for the Opportunity, lawful checks, or a related engagement.

The hiring business must assess applicants fairly and without unlawful discrimination. BarberHero approval or a profile does not replace checks of identity, qualifications, references, insurance, right to work, or suitability.

An applicant may withdraw before selection. Applying does not guarantee selection, and selection is not final employment or engagement terms unless the hiring business and professional enter a binding agreement.

9. Direct self-employed engagement and payment

The Opportunity does not create an employment contract with BarberHero. The intended arrangement is a direct self-employed contractor engagement between the hiring business and professional. Before work starts, they must record a contract for services in writing covering:

  • that the professional is engaged as an independent self-employed barber and remains free to accept or reject other work;
  • dates, hours, location, duties, supervision, substitution rights, tools, and breaks;
  • the agreed contractor fee, invoicing, tax, expenses, deductions if lawful, and payment date;
  • cancellation, sickness, expenses, safety, confidentiality, and data terms; and
  • the professional's responsibility for their tax, National Insurance and insurance where the self-employed status lawfully applies.

The hiring business pays the professional directly after the shift according to their agreement. BarberHero does not hold, process, guarantee, or insure shift pay.

Neither party may represent that BarberHero employs the professional or that BarberHero is a party to their contract for services. The professional may provide services to other clients and BarberHero does not supervise how barbering services are performed.

The parties must operate consistently with a genuine self-employed relationship. If mandatory law classifies a particular real-world arrangement differently, the relevant rights and duties still apply and cannot be waived merely by using the word “self-employed”.

10. Hiring-business responsibilities

The hiring business is responsible for all duties that apply to the engagement, including:

  • lawful written terms and required key information;
  • right-to-work and any qualification, authorisation, reference, or safeguarding checks;
  • National Minimum Wage, holiday pay, working time, rest breaks, pension, PAYE, National Insurance, and lawful deductions;
  • equality and non-discrimination;
  • safe premises, equipment, risk assessment, incident reporting, and suitable insurance;
  • paying all sums due on time even if a customer or another party has not paid it; and
  • retaining records required by employment, tax, recruitment, and health-and-safety law.

BarberHero tools and profile information assist administration but do not transfer these duties away from the business or from BarberHero where BarberHero has its own non-excludable statutory duty.

11. Professional responsibilities

A professional must provide accurate information, attend only work they are legally entitled and competent to perform, disclose relevant limits before acceptance, follow lawful safety and hygiene requirements, and promptly raise a material mismatch or unsafe condition.

A professional is responsible for their own tax and insurance only to the extent the law and the true engagement status place that responsibility on them. These terms do not waive employee, worker, or agency-worker rights.

12. Cancellation, problems, and reports

Each party must follow the cancellation conditions displayed and communicate promptly. They should first try to resolve pay, attendance, hours, or conduct issues directly, then use BarberHero's report process where needed.

BarberHero may preserve evidence, facilitate communication, restrict accounts, suspend a listing, or notify an authority where reasonably necessary. BarberHero cannot deduct or refund shift pay that it never held.

Serious safety, discrimination, exploitation, illegal-working, fraud, or non-payment concerns may result in immediate protective action.

13. BarberHero's role and limitations

BarberHero does not guarantee an applicant, worker, hirer, shift, result, payment, or uninterrupted platform. Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, BarberHero does not employ or supply the professional, supervise the shift, run payroll, or decide the final legal status of the engagement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BarberHero is not liable for a party's independent breach, the quality of work, workplace conditions controlled by the hiring business, unpaid direct shift pay, inaccurate user information, or indirect or unforeseeable loss.

Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, non-excludable data-protection or recruitment duties, or any other liability or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

14. Records, privacy, and monitoring

BarberHero records listings, applications, terms accepted, contacts initiated through the platform, selections, payment for publication, reports, and status changes as explained in the Privacy Policy. Parties must keep their own required engagement and payroll records.

Do not scrape profiles, build unrelated contact lists, sell applicant data, or contact applicants for unrelated marketing.

15. Changes, governing law, and contact

We may update these terms for legal, safety, pricing, or service changes. A price change does not affect a publication already paid for. Material changes will be notified and fresh acceptance requested where appropriate.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to mandatory rights that cannot be displaced.
